The existing sectional door system used a counterweight and trolley operator configuration that was slow, aging, and expensive to keep running. The door’s opening speed was well below what was practical for a busy parking facility — every vehicle entry and exit required waiting through a slow cycle, impacting flow and user experience. The Solution

Wilcox Door Service replaced the aging sectional door system with a rubber high-speed door purpose-built for parking garage applications. Rubber high-speed doors operate at significantly faster cycle speeds than sectional doors, reducing vehicle wait times and improving traffic flow through the garage entrance. The rubber curtain construction is impact-resistant — if a vehicle contacts the door during a cycle, the rubber absorbs and recovers from the impact rather than sustaining damage, dramatically reducing the incident repair costs associated with vehicle contact events.

The new door was specified for the opening dimensions and cycle frequency of the parking garage, with activation designed to integrate with the facility’s access control and traffic management systems. Installation was completed with minimal disruption to parking operations.
