Wilcox encourages staff members to actively participate in community events or charities that are important to them. As a company, we have supported several charities over the years through both contributions and volunteering. This gives us the opportunity when we are out in the field to put a human touch on the business. For us, these acts of social responsibility provide an opportunity to connect with some amazing individuals, to help the environment, or to be inspired by incredible stories. Below is an example of some of the causes Wilcox supports.
Downie Wenjack Foundation
The residential school system has had a lasting impact on the equity, well being and rightful place of Indigenous Peoples on Turtle Island. Donations to The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund help support grassroots, community-based ReconciliACTIONs across Canada. Learn More about Downie Wenjack by clicking here.
Tree Canada
Off-setting our carbon footprint is a big focus for us at Wilcox. Our environment is increasingly important to protect and nurture as the global warming crisis continues. At Wilcox, we have committed to planting 1 tree for every Service Call that is placed by a customer on a Preventative Maintenance contract. To learn more about Tree Canada click here.
Black North Initiative
Wilcox has taken the pledge of being a part of the Black North Initiative. With that pledge we are focused on increasing our diversity and inclusion of Black, Indigenous and People of Colour to our team. We have always been a big proponent of diversity and are so excited to be a part of this great initiative. To learn more about the Black North Initiative, click here.
Compass Food Bank
During the difficult times in COVID, the Wilcox Team worked together to provide a significant donation to the Compass Food Bank. The Compass Food Bank does very important work in our local community in Port Credit, Mississauga ON. They offer food, support and a sense of community for those in need. Light House- Peer Support for Grieving Children
The people at Light House do amazing work for our community and helping children and youth deal with some of the most difficult challenges they will face on their own. They provide guidance, support and a sense of community for those who have lost significant people in their lives. Wilcox was so happy to be able to help with this charity by donation, and can’t wait for COVID to be over so we can help with volunteering. To learn more about Light House, click here.
Mississauga Food Bank
“Help Build a Mississauga Where No One Goes Hungry.” For the third year, we’ve donated to the Mississauga Food Bank to help feed those in our community. This is an excellent organization that hits close to home for us and truly values contributions from donors, their volunteers and member agencies. Learn More
