1. Site Visit & Consultation
Our Project Managers begin by meeting on-site with your team to understand the scope, traffic flow, building specs, and safety considerations. We take detailed measurements and photos to eliminate surprises.
2. Design Review & Quote Approval
Every project includes a thorough product and layout review to ensure it meets your operational needs. We provide clear, detailed quotes and timelines — and work closely with GCs, engineers, and site leads.
3. Pre-Installation Safety & Planning
We conduct full Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs), secure necessary permits, coordinate access and staging areas, and ensure our crews are briefed with toolbox talks before work begins. Our planning helps prevent the unplanned.
4. On-Site Installation by Certified Union Crews
Our installations are handled by our own in-house, unionized Ironworkers from Local 721 and 736. Many of our technicians have 10+, 15+, and even 20+ years of experience, with deep product and site knowledge. They’re trained in working at heights, confined spaces, lift operation, and energy control (LOTO).
5. Project Oversight from Start to Finish
Each job is assigned a dedicated Project Manager and Coordinator who remain in contact with your team from scheduling through sign-off. They ensure your expectations are met — on time, on budget, and with full accountability.
6. Testing, Training & Turnover Package
After install, we complete a full test cycle on every door or dock system, train your on-site personnel on safe usage, and provide a digital turnover package that includes warranty documents, service instructions, and photos of the completed install.

How long does a commercial door or dock installation take?
A standard single-door replacement typically takes half a day to one full day. A full dock package — leveler, restraint, seals, and door — is typically one to two days per dock position. New construction projects are scoped individually.
Do you handle permits for commercial door installations?
Yes. Our project management team coordinates permits for fire-rated assemblies, new structural openings, and new construction projects. For replacements in existing openings, a permit is typically not required.
Can you work alongside a general contractor on a new construction project?
Yes. We are experienced working alongside GCs and coordinate staging, access windows, and sequencing to keep your project on schedule. We provide all required submittals, cut sheets, and commissioning documentation.
What is included in the turnover package after installation?
Every installation includes as-built documentation, warranty certificates, operator manuals, and a commissioning report. For dock equipment we include a safety training walkthrough for your facility team.
Do you install fire-rated door assemblies?
Yes. We install, commission, and document fire-rated door assemblies per NFPA 80. We provide required labelling documentation for AHJ review, insurance compliance, and your permanent compliance record.
What brands of doors and dock equipment do you install?
We are vendor-neutral and install products from all major manufacturers: Blue Giant, Rytec, Raynor, Pentalift, LiftMaster, Albany, TNR/Hörmann, Richards-Wilcox, Cornell/Cookson, and Wayne Dalton.
Can you replace an existing dock leveler without modifying the pit?
In most cases yes. We measure the existing pit and specify a replacement unit to fit. If the pit dimensions require modification, we handle the structural work as well.
How do you handle installations at live facilities without disrupting operations?
We coordinate access windows and work phases with your facility team. For critical docks that can’t go offline during business hours, we schedule installation work evenings or overnight.
Do you install vehicle restraints and dock safety interlock systems?
Yes. We install and commission vehicle restraints, dock lights, leveler/restraint interlock controls, and dock communication systems to OHSA compliance standards.
Do you provide a warranty on installation work?
Yes. All Wilcox installations are backed by the manufacturer’s product warranty and our workmanship warranty. We also offer extended service and maintenance agreements to keep your equipment covered long term.
Can you install doors across multiple locations for a national account?
Yes. Wilcox manages multi-site installation programs for retailers, 3PL operators, food manufacturers, and industrial real estate portfolios. One project management contact, consolidated scheduling.
What is the difference between a sectional door and a rolling steel door?
Sectional doors use horizontal panels on overhead tracks — most common in commercial facilities. Rolling steel doors coil into a compact drum, preferred for high-security or space-constrained applications. Both are available in fire-rated configurations.
Do you handle installations in cold storage environments?
Yes. We install insulated sectional doors, high-speed cold storage rubber doors, and bi-parting refrigerated dock doors. We specify products rated for the temperature differential.
What happens after installation is complete?
We complete a final commissioning inspection, provide all turnover documentation, and walk your team through operation and maintenance requirements. We schedule a 90-day follow-up to ensure everything is performing as specified.

NFPA 80 — Fire-Rated Assemblies
Fire-rated door assemblies installed per NFPA 80 labelling and listing requirements. Complete documentation for AHJ and insurance sign-off.
UL 325 / CAN/CSA-C22.2 — Power Doors
Required entrapment protection and safety devices on all power-operated door installations including high-speed and automated rolling steel.
OHSA / O. Reg. 851 — Dock Safety
Vehicle restraints and dock levelers commissioned to OHSA loading dock safety standards. Operator training and documentation at project completion.
