    Our New Construction Process — From Tender to Turnover

    1. Tender & Pre-Qualification

    We respond to tenders, provide references, and supply all union certification documentation that GCs and owners require. No chasing Wilcox for paperwork — it’s ready.

    2. Site Measurements & Submittals

    Before fabrication, we take field measurements and submit shop drawings for engineer review. Every opening is confirmed before product is ordered.

    3. Material Procurement

    We source from Raynor, Blue Giant, Pentalift, Rytec, and other top manufacturers — with lead times managed to fit your construction schedule.

    4. Rough-In Coordination

    We coordinate with the GC for rough-in framing, electrical rough-in for operators, and structural embedments for dock equipment before concrete is poured.

    5. Installation by Certified Ironworkers

    Our Local 721 and 736 Ironworkers install all doors, frames, hardware, operators, dock levelers, seals, shelters, and vehicle restraints to spec and code.

    6. Testing, Training & Turnover Package

    We test every system before handover — cycle counts, force tests, safety reversal verification. Full documentation package and owner/operator training included.

    Code Compliance & Safety Standards

    NFPA 80 — Fire Doors

    Annual drop test and inspection under the Ontario Fire Code. Written compliance documentation acceptable to AHJ, insurer, and building manager.

    All dock leveler and vehicle restraint repairs comply with Ontario OHSA loading dock safety requirements. Full lockout/tagout on every powered-equipment job.

    Do you handle permits for door and dock installations in new buildings?

    Wilcox works with the GC or owner’s team on permit applications. We provide all required product specifications, engineering submittals, and compliance documentation.

    What is the typical lead time for commercial door equipment?

    Standard sectional doors typically ship in 4–6 weeks. High-speed doors and custom rolling steel can take 8–12 weeks. We manage procurement to align with your construction schedule.

    Can you work on phased construction projects?

    Absolutely. We’ve worked on phased builds where different sections open on different dates. We coordinate installation sequences, temporary weather protection, and phased commissioning with the GC.

    Do you install fire-rated door assemblies in new buildings?

    Yes. We install fire-rated rolling steel and sectional door assemblies to UL listing and NFPA 80 requirements, with all required labelling and documentation for building occupancy.

    What's included in the turnover package at project completion?

    Operations and maintenance manuals, warranty documentation, equipment serial numbers, commissioning records, cycle test results, and a walkthrough with the building owner or facilities team.

    Can Wilcox handle a multi-location rollout for a new building portfolio?

    Do you install HVLS fans in new construction?
